So a few months ago, I thought about taking Jules to Niagara Falls, because he’s never been. I got a bunch of plans together and then my parents wanted to jump in on the fun. So I thought, why not? We all piled into the car, with MHB (my 87 year old Grandmother) in tow and away we went.
What began as a let’s take the train to and from Toronto, became a road trip, with the family, to Niagara Falls. I wasn’t sure if this was going to be an amazing experience or a “get me out of this car right now!”, kind of thing. It ended up being an experience, let’s just leave it at that 😂
So the road trip began on a beautiful, Saturday morning. There were naps, rest area stops, and much fun harassing whoever was driving.
We drove about 3 hours to sunny Syracuse, NY. We decided to stop mid way, as to not overexert MHB with all the car riding. We had a terrible time with our hotel reservation, it was a mess. We reserved a room via Expedia. We were told that we would be able to have a suite that would fit all five of us, and the lie detector determined that was a lie. So we ended up having to cancel and find space at a different hotel nearby. It wasn’t really up to par, but the rooms were clean…enough. After the crazy of checking in, we let MHB rest and we located a few murals Micah had looked up.
After resting the night, we piled back into the car and headed to the next stop on our trip, Buffalo, NY. One of Micah’s favorite muralists, Kobra, had just finished a piece there. On top of that, we saw a few other nice murals. I, of course, searched the internet for any random roadside atractions in the area. I found one called Shark Girl that was close by and off we went. Side note: we passed the Buffalo zoo, and their giraffes can be seen when driving by. That was a nice, little surprise. After the quick stop, we moved on to our final family destination…Niagara Falls!
