In November, when I went to my aunt’s wedding, I also arranged tickets to visit the Museum of Ice Cream in San Francisco. I missed my chance on the original in New York City. By the time I had heard about it, it was over. Then this year they opened one in Los Angeles. Yet again, I missed my chance because it had sold out by the time the news reached my ears. During November 2017, we flew back to the West Coast for my aunt’s wedding. She chose beautiful Sea Ranch, CA and it was the perfect locale. We flew into San Francisco and drove a few hours north to get there. The drive was scenic, as it took you north, along the coast. As beautiful as it was, it was a nerve wracking drive. There were many spots on the road with no guardrails and just cliff straight down to the water. It was a very thrilling ride up, and, fortunately we had the sunlight most of the way there.
The ferry to Orcas Island was delightfully simple. We drove our car into the bottom of the boat and made our way to a sitting area. The sun was shining through the window, creating a little heated area in our booth. It was soothing. Continue reading “Orcas Island and So Long Seattle”
Our last Seattle stop was a proper viewing of Pike Place. The last time we went was the weekend, and it was crowded with people. Jules and I decided to go during the week, and there were about half the amount of people. We parked the car and explored. There were lots of restaurants and stalls set up with people seeking their wares. Food, fish, trinkets, clothing, etc.
Today, we went to the Seattle Zoo. It was a typical zoo experience. I’m partial to the Bronx Zoo, but the Woodland Park zoo wasn’t as disappointing as other zoos I have been to (I’m talking about you Philly!). My only real complaint was that the giraffe enclosure was a little small. My favorite spot was the orangutan enclosure. It was rather large and the orangutans were not feeling all the people. It was hilarious to watch them hide from prying eyes. One put one of those giant rice bags over his head to avoid looking at humans. We spent a fair amount of time exploring around. The next morning I had arranged a “Ride the Duck” boat tour. We had tickets for noon, so we grabbed a quick breakfast and headed back into Seattle.
