The next morning I had arranged a “Ride the Duck” boat tour. We had tickets for noon, so we grabbed a quick breakfast and headed back into Seattle.
and so the end has come…
We had our last Thai breakfast and walked to the beach. It was beautiful. A nice view to end our trip. We packed up, checked out, and ordered a ride to the Patong Mall in Phuket. We stored our bags and wandered around. We did some shopping and had lunch. We found the food court and had lunch at an “American” style eatery. Again the Mai Tai was weird. We had tons of time to kill, because our flight wasn’t until after midnight. We decided on a movie. We watched Kong Skull island in English with Thai subtitles. Back in Phuket
Our new hotel was clean and very modern, but had terrible wifi. We were both very tired after the problems from the previous night. Denali at this point was being extra annoying so I chose to let him go to breakfast alone. I sulked in my room and tried to navigate the terrible wifi. He came back, and I was still annoyed. I left and did some shopping for last minute gifts. Two hours walking around the touristy area of Phuket in the heat, and I was ready to go. I hailed a tuk tuk back to the hotel and soaked up the AC. Denali went to the pool and when he came back, we were friends again. Continue reading “Back in Phuket”
Leaving Chiang Rai, onward to Laos
We had our normal breakfast, a mishmosh of American and local fair. We hopped in our prearranged ride to the airport and we were off. By this time, we were the ultimate frequent flyers. Continue reading “Leaving Chiang Rai, onward to Laos”
Bus trip from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai
Breakfast was awful. I couldn’t really eat anything after I saw the mouse yesterday. Denali dropped his egg. It did not bode well for the day. We checked out and got on the tour bus at 7:00 am. If you are an avid reader, you will remember we booked this tour through the ministry of tourism in Bangkok the day of the four temples for four baht. The van arrived in time. Chiang Mai
We had plans to sightsee in Chiang Mai today. We had breakfast. I saw a mouse dart from under one table to another. That was it for me eating at our hotel. We got dressed and tried to hail a tuk tuk outside of our hotel. We went through three drivers before we haggled a decent price to the mountain temple and a few other temples. Continue reading “Chiang Mai”
Goodbye Siem Reap, Hello Chiang Mai.
Travel day! This morning we woke up late. It was wonderful. We had breakfast as usual and waited for our ride to the airport. There were ridiculous lines at the check in, mostly people trying to check overweight luggage or trying to bring things on the plane they weren’t supposed to. Continue reading “Goodbye Siem Reap, Hello Chiang Mai.”
Cambodian sights, Day three…
This morning we had a late start. I broke another nail and Denali spilled coffee on himself. I dropped a water bottle and it broke in the floor. This morning wasn’t looking good. We had our normal breakfast. We ate and waited for our new driver. He was a friend of our old driver, who had to cancel in us to take his prewedding photos. Continue reading “Cambodian sights, Day three…”
Island hopping by longboat…
This morning we got up early to get ourselves together. We headed downstairs to the breakfast area. Yet again very interesting choices of food. From fruit to chicken to curry soup. We grab a few bottles of water from the 7-11 and wait for our bus. I neglected to inform you that there are 7-11’s literally everywhere. You can’t turn a corner without seeing one. We have one two doors down from us, which makes it easy to pickup whatever we need.
Krabi bus ride…
Early risers today, so we can get the early bus to Krabi. We have our breakfast, pack our stuff and say goodbye to The BluEco Hotel. (There will be a write up on all of our hotels later) We grab a tuk tuk and get a ride to the Phuket town bus station.
