After snacking on some delicious and much needed McNuggets, we entered the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPop). There were some great exhibits, including the Jim Henson Experience. My childhood came to life and my dreams came true as I wandered around. Kermit, Bert and Ernie, and The Count; they were all there. You could even make your own movie with a muppet. It was heaven on earth. Continue reading “Sampling Seattle”
Seattle Bound
At the end of June, I went on a family trip to Orcas Island, Washington. I flew into Seattle and spent about a week there before I joined the rest of my extended family. It was my first time visiting Seattle, and I love to experience new places. I have a cousin that loves it there; she visits all the time. She always says wonderful things about Seattle. I think she eventually wants to move there. After spending some time, I can safely say that I don’t have a need to go back again. I did enjoy the sights, but I felt it was more of a been there, done that situation. Continue reading “Seattle Bound”
and so the end has come…
We had our last Thai breakfast and walked to the beach. It was beautiful. A nice view to end our trip. We packed up, checked out, and ordered a ride to the Patong Mall in Phuket. We stored our bags and wandered around. We did some shopping and had lunch. We found the food court and had lunch at an “American” style eatery. Again the Mai Tai was weird. We had tons of time to kill, because our flight wasn’t until after midnight. We decided on a movie. We watched Kong Skull island in English with Thai subtitles. Back in Phuket
Our new hotel was clean and very modern, but had terrible wifi. We were both very tired after the problems from the previous night. Denali at this point was being extra annoying so I chose to let him go to breakfast alone. I sulked in my room and tried to navigate the terrible wifi. He came back, and I was still annoyed. I left and did some shopping for last minute gifts. Two hours walking around the touristy area of Phuket in the heat, and I was ready to go. I hailed a tuk tuk back to the hotel and soaked up the AC. Denali went to the pool and when he came back, we were friends again. Continue reading “Back in Phuket”
Leaving Laos
Enjoying a very late morning, it was nice to sleep in. We had breakfast packed and took a shuttle to the airport. Afternoon flights are wonderful. Getting to the airport was easy, but inside the airport was not. It had a weird set up. We waited on a security/passport control line, only to be told when we got to the front, we had to go check in downstairs. We found the appropriate line to be on and we waited. Vientiane
We started off later than we wanted but enjoyed a simple breakfast at our hotel. We walked down the street to get to the corner where the tuk tuks wait. I saw several tuk tuks in both directions. I asked Denali which way he wanted to go, he said left and we started walking. Half way up the block he stopped and asked what we were doing. I told him looking for a tuk tuk. Leaving Chiang Rai, onward to Laos
We had our normal breakfast, a mishmosh of American and local fair. We hopped in our prearranged ride to the airport and we were off. By this time, we were the ultimate frequent flyers. Continue reading “Leaving Chiang Rai, onward to Laos”
Our Day in Chiang Rai
I’m sorry. I’m well behind finishing writing up this trip. There has been so much upheaval, and I’m just now getting back to this blog….
There is very little to do in Chiang Rai if you have already been to the white temple and the night bazaar. (Yes there are other temples, but at this point we were templed out. Although later I found out about the Blue temple. I’m a little upset I didn’t find anything about it when I was researching the trip.) Continue reading “Our Day in Chiang Rai”
Bus trip from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai
Breakfast was awful. I couldn’t really eat anything after I saw the mouse yesterday. Denali dropped his egg. It did not bode well for the day. We checked out and got on the tour bus at 7:00 am. If you are an avid reader, you will remember we booked this tour through the ministry of tourism in Bangkok the day of the four temples for four baht. The van arrived in time. Chiang Mai
We had plans to sightsee in Chiang Mai today. We had breakfast. I saw a mouse dart from under one table to another. That was it for me eating at our hotel. We got dressed and tried to hail a tuk tuk outside of our hotel. We went through three drivers before we haggled a decent price to the mountain temple and a few other temples.
